Chrysanths is Glasgow-based singer and composer Emily Scott.

Leave No Shadow marks Scott’s first solo record in the decade she has been the front-woman and principal song-writer of Modern Studies. A regular on BBC Radio Scotland and BBC Radio 6, listeners will be familiar with her distinctive odd time-signatures, nostalgic lyrics and expressive and intuitive instrumentation. With Fire Records the band have released 4 LPs and 2 EPs to international critical acclaim.

“Emily Scott’s voice is a beautiful thing” (We Are There, MOJO)
“A fantastic collection of woozy, lovely songs” (Welcome Strangers, The Guardian)
“Her mellow songwriting style was utterly intoxicating” (Live review, the SCOTSMAN)
“Setting the standards for intelligent pop” (Welcome Strangers, Record Collector)
“Melancholic magic” (Welcome Strangers, UNCUT)

This new solo venture as Chrysanths brings us an album of reflective, bucolic, down-tempo piano songs, with soaring string orchestra, synths and drums. Scott’s style is nostalgic, cool and poetic, and she has been described simultaneously as out of her time, and timeless. Initially written as a solo piano project, and then expanded to its full orchestral potential, this has classic songwriting at its core.
