Welcome Conquering Animal Sound!

Chemikal Underground are thrilled to announce that Conquering Animal Sound have joined the Chemikal fold and will be releasing their follow-up to the SAY Award shortlisted ‘Kammerspiel’ at the beginning of next year.

We’ve kept this creative union on the ‘down low’ since February of this year actually, opting instead to let James and Anneke get into Chem19 in peace and quiet to finish off their new album with Paul (Savage).  And finish it they have, and in grand style too: it’s an assured, ambitious and stylish progression from what was already a brilliant debut and it’s going to be called ‘On Floating Bodies’, so there.

There’ll be more information on the new album as we move closer to the New Year but remember in the meantime that you can still pick up ‘Kammerspiel’ from most good record shops or via Richard Knox’s excellent, Leeds-based Gizeh Records.

“We’re super chuffed to be working with Chemikal Underground, Scotland’s finest record label.  The opportunity they gave us to mix the new album with Paul at Chem19 has made it sound all the better.  Thanks to Richard at Gizeh for all his great work, we are sad to be moving on from his label, but the £2m signing on fee with Chemikal, not to mention the private jets, live-in villa and CAS-branded Reebok Hexalites was just too good to turn down.”  ANNEKE & JAMES (CONQUERING ANIMAL SOUND)

“We consider it a real coup for Chemikal Underground to be working with Anneke and James.  ‘Kammerspiel’ was a tremendous, intelligent album that pretty much encapsulated everything that we hold to be exciting and inventive about Scottish music at the moment.  It’s great to welcome them to the ‘family’ and while we’re sure they’ll play nice with the others, we’ll probably have to keep an eye on James.”  STEWART HENDERSON (CHEMIKAL UNDERGROUND)
